‘Lambing ni Lord’

I’ve been craving for kropek. The average shrimp kropek that I’ve known from my childhood. The ones that can only be bought from the palengke. And now, these things can be bought from the streets.

It’s just that almost every time I go home from work, passing by C-5 on a taxi, when there’s traffic by Market-Market, the driver will buy it from the street vendors and offer some to me out of courtesy. It’s typically pinoy to do that. And it’s also typically pinoy to politely refuse. But every time they eat the first piece, I remember how yummy it was when I was young.

So I’d arrive home and forget about it for the night when I smell Nina’s adobo for dinner. Last Tuesday, after returning from my trip, during merienda break, I went to our entry foyer to buy from the canteen vendors who came to our office and guess what?

There was a kropek among the chips they were selling! I mildly smiled and said ‘thank you’.

This if not the first time this has happened. I’ve come to acknowledge this as God’s ‘ lambing’. It’s my personal reminder that no matter how seemingly mundane my requests are, our loving Father has time to cuddle you up in his arms and say “I love you!”.
